WAD 2 Treatment
Goals
- Decrease spasms
- Decrease swelling
- Decrease high tone
- Decrease Trigger points
- Stretch shortened muscles
Hydrotherapy
- Apply cold on swollen area, be sure to verbally, visually and touch the area to check in on client
Specific Techniques
- Lymph draining
- Static touch
- Effleurage
- Slow petrissage
Communication
- Reassure client that pillows are placed on the bed for their head
- Tell them to hold their necks and that you’ll gently lower their neck on to their side
- Check on client
- These are specific to muscle guarding
WAD 3 Treatment
Goals
- Relaxation
- Decrease high tone
- Decrease trigger points
Specific Techniques
- Stretch muscles at neural interfaces on side of compression ( side of impact)
- Muscle approximation on stretched side
- Work on upper traps, splenius capitus, and SCM
