Gracillis Strength Test:
To do:
With the client seated, the therapist brings the client into a flexed knee position with an adducted and medially rotated hip. While the client tries to remain in this position, the therapist tries to extend the knee and abduct the hip.
Positive sign:
The client is unable to resist the therapist moving their leg.
Gracillis Length Test:
To do:
The therapist brings the client’s hip into external rotation and abduction, while extending the knee.
Positive sign:
Limited range of motion or a stretch is felt along the muscle.
