Tibialis Anterior Special Tests

Tibialis Strength Test

To do:

With the client seated, the will dorsiflex and invert their foot.

The therapist then tries to plantar flex and evert the foot as the client resists.

Positive sign:

The client is unable to resists the therapist’s force

Tibialis Length Test

To do:

The therapists brings the client’s foot into plantar flexion and ankle eversion.

Positive sign:

Limited range of motion or a stretch felt along the muscle.
