Speed’s Test
To do:
With the client seated, the therapist extends their elbow and supinates their arm.
The therapist will stabilize the client’s shoulder and the client with attempt to flex their elbow, while the therapist holds the patient’s forearm and applies resistance
Positive sign:
Pain in the biceps tendon
Yergason’s Test
To do:
With the client seated, the therapist’s hand stabilizes the clients elbow against the client’s body.
The therapist’s other hand applies resistance as the client actively supinates their forearm, extends their elbow and externally rotates the humerus.
Positive sign:
Pain in the bicipital groove.
