ECU Strength Test

To do:

With client seated,

The therapist gets them to extend their forearm and ulnar deviate their wrists.

The therapist should then try to flex the elbow and radially deviate the wrist as the client resists

Positive Sign:

The client is unable to resist the force of the therapist

ECU Length Test

To do :

The therapist puts the client’s forearm into flexion and wrist into radial deviation

Positive Sign:

Limited range of motion or a stretch felt along the muscle
